Prince Mangosuthu Buthlezi was born in Mhalabathini, KwaZulu on the 27th of August 1928. He holds a degree from the University of Fort Hare. In 1994, Prince Buthlezi was appointed as the Minister of Home Affairs and has been appointed as Acting President 11 times. He is the current Chairman of the House of Traditional Leaders (KwaZulu Natal) and President of the Inkatha Freedom Party – a title he has held since its foundation in 1975.
